Cup and Mugs, A Blue Cup, GloriaV

Hi Everyone. This theme sounds like so much fun. I just had to add a cup I did for 10 Minute Warm Up last year some time. Hope every one is doing well. I've cut back on my postings and only do Friday now. This sounded like fun, so here I is for a posting. Hopefully I can come back very soon. Hello to all, wish you all good days ahead. Thanks Lynn for hosting as always. I will be by your posts as soon as possible.:)

Daily Life, Kickback Day, GloriaV.

Hope your weekend and Memorial Day was great.

We remembered our veterans and said a prayer for them, especially my son.

The rest of the day was spent doing absolutely anything and everything we love. Gardening, weeding, eating, drinking iced tea, and barbecuing hot dogs. That's all, but it's enough because that is how we spend our lives here at home. Just enjoying it.

Then I decided I was going to spend the day laying on my bed after a cold shower and just watching TV, snacking, eating ice cream, cold drinks and being happy. So here's my sketch of my lazy day, after of course working outside early in the morn.

Daily Life, MySpainCup, Gloria V.

Happy Day to everyone. It's Sunday here and took my coffee mug and Ipad outside early this morning. It's been busy, lots of stuff going on outside with all the veggies. Taking this day slow  and just relaxing and will spend a little time in the studio.

This cup is loved. It was ordered from Spain. It's hand made and hand painted. Just looking at it as I was drinking my coffee prompted me to do a little sketch on it. This is a part of my daily life so it was sketched, and this is it. My coffee was enjoyed. Here's hoping you have a wonderful weekend.

Daily Life, The Wash, Gloria V.

Chippy our older 14 year old has her own room, the washroom. After my husband leaves at 7a.m., I head to the washroom at the back of the house and see if there are clothes and usually there is a small basket.

I tend to wash the load so as the clothes don't pile up and don't use the dryer to avoid higher electrical rates. I have a clothes line out back and also another clothes line closer to the house. An umbrella stand up type,  and that is where I've been hanging clothes. The clothes smell so good when hanging in the sun.

As you can see Chippy is still sleeping and isn't ready to go outside. I grab a cuppa and decide to wash clothes in a little.

Part of the daily routine and I love it. Home is where my heart is at.

Animals, Trojan Cat, Gloria V.

Hello everyone. I wish there was more time to just draw and paint. My life right now is mostly outdoors with the green of the land and the blue of the sky and a slight breeze now and then. Hope everyone is doing good and my hats off to all of you for being so artistic. I will be back this afternoon to comment on your fab. work.

Right now there in this cat that I was doodling last night as I watched a segment of  the History Channel with all it's informative information. It was about the Trojan Horse and the representation of it's beauty was just awesome. So I thought it would be a cat, semi-Trojan. Tee Hee. So here it is and of course you know it was done with my can't get away from it,  Ipad and P-53.

I've removed the waving hand borrowed from the Internet as it had a (c) on it. It had said "free" downloads so I assumed it was okay. Better safe than sorry.

Animals, Chocolatte, GloriaV

HELLO to everyone!

In my heart and mind I call my Chocolatte my Family Pet Member (FPM). I know she is an animal, one of Gods little creatures, but to us she is our FPM. This drawing of her doesn't really look like her, but it represents that she is Queen of the home.

She's happy, content, well fed, watered and loved and has been taught manners which is why she always gets what she wants. tee hee. So here is the God's little creature which I named "Chocolatte" as in Choco and latte. She is Chihuahua and poodle, a Mexipoo or ChiPoo.  heehaw

Sorry I haven't been around but I haven't forgotten you are all still here. I will try very hard to get to your posts today. Hope everyone is well and enjoying life to the fullest.

Art Supplies, Ipad-Paper53, GloriaV

Thought I'd take a little time a do a post for PPP&P as it's calling to me. After this, outside I go to try and catch a gopher. They are so darling but not darling enough. They are pulling down our veggies and having a feast. Tee hee.

A quick sketch on Ipad and a view of what I'm using at present as my art supplies. Makes it easy but by no means replaces the real thing, "paint."

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! and EVENING.

Humans Beings and their activities, My Mom, GloriaV

A little sad tale of a human and her activities.

My mom has her schedule. Every day has to be the same for her. We were down there for Easter and I got this picture of her in my mind of just being alone as it shows here in the drawing. She sits by that window, watches TV, looks out the window and does odds and ends throughout the day. She gets her phone calls, makes her phone calls, reads the paper and gets upset about all the chaos going on in this world.

She lays out her food for breakfast, an Advantage drink, muffin with cheese or instant oatmeal, cream of wheat, whatever she feels like eating. She also preps her lunch and dinner and has them in the frig. ready to warm when it's time.

She goes outside with her walker and waters plants, gets a little sun and then goes and waits for the mailman.

At 5:00 pm or so she makes her way to the bedroom to watch her TV programs. She always says, "I may be alone, but I'm not lonely." She also says, "I may not smile often, but I'm happy."

It saddens me that she will not make a move to come stay with us. I've been trying to make her understand that it's for the best but she won't have it. She will not leave her home so we go there. It's an hour and a half to get there. The ride is fine but in an emergency, it's going to be difficult. She can afford to have someone come in at least 3 times a week, but she won't have that either. I've offered to go stay there with her, but she won't have that either. We go there when husband isn't working, the weekends. Sometimes during the week as well.

It's only me that helps her, buying her groceries, doctor's appointments, whatever she needs, I'm there.

She says, "When it's time, I'll let you know and you can come." She actually does well, but still I worry and feel sad that she insists on living alone like this. So this is a drawing of a human and their activities. Unfortunately it's my mom.

Time Away From Home, GloriaV, Coming back home from Mom's

Coming home from my Mom's. Highway 132. This is a community with probably no more than 50 homes, all acre ranchettes. I've always wanted to live here but very costly. I can dream though. I didn't paint this, just cartooned it. I wanted to at least get one post for this time around. Life has been busy. It's beautiful isn't it? Lots of clouds. There are a lot of cows, orchards, trees and more that we see on the way home. Just outside Modesto. Happy PPPP to everyone.

Gardens & Parks, Chocolatte's Garden, GloriaV

We were at my Mom's today in San Jose, most of the day so I didn't get to post earlier.

This will be my last post for Gardens & Parks. This is one garden area outside the back door. I call it Chocolatte's Garden because this is where my little family pet member kicks back and has fun.

Not a very good sketch. The bigger trees are meant to be cypress trees and the plants in front of the brown fence are actually all rose trees and the other trees in buckets are also roses. My husband has a thing for roses. We laid brick tiles all around this area and have poppies and other growing between the frost bitten avocado trees. There is lavender growing and little bushes here and there.

There is a lemon tree and just picked the lemons and juiced them all. I grated the lemons for lemon zest, bagged it in a baggie, juiced all the lemons and put in little plastic cups about 2/3 ounces each. Put the lid on each tiny container and bagged and froze for later use.

The days to come will be nice and that means spending time outdoors. Sorry about the messy fence, someone wrote on it. Tee hee.

We always have tables outside. Thanks everyone. If I haven't gotten to your latest post I will tomorrow. As I said we have been out of town today.

Viva Gardens & Parks. It was a wonderful theme suggested by Ann. Thanks Ann.

Gardens & Parks, When olives turn black, GloriaV

When my dear Dad was still living, I made it a point to ask him for cuttings every time we visited. He was always generous. We brought home small cuttings of many different plants, pieces of cactus as they take root very easy, small olive trees. Years later my Dad is gone but his plants live on in my backyard.

We have at least 8 olive trees here and there out back and they give olives. I have tried to cure them so they can be edible, but it never works. I always want to pick them when they are green and jar them that way. My Dad always had a jar of green olives he had cured on the table and he always gave away a jar or two to family members.

So my olives always turn black and I feel guilty because it is food going to waste. Truth is, I'm afraid of God punishing me because the food is wasted:( I've meant to ask Manuel across the street for lesson on curing the olives.  Anyway to make a long story short I was thinking of the olives and did a quick sketch on my Ipad to show the olives turning black.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Gardens & Parks-Across The Street, GloriaV

Manuel working on his plants. A few years back, his sister threw in a lot of poppies and other to cheer his yard up. She doesn't live there but was visiting. That odd looking house is his garage/shed. Manuel doesn't really look like this but as I saw him tending to his garden, he appeared vital and energized and younger than his 80 years in life.

Have a wonderful day and hopefully we all got some needed rain here in California. Yay for the Gods!

Gardens & Parks, Looking North, GloriaV

Looking North, out my bedroom window
Looking North, PPPP, glv 2014 #14
A quick peek and quick sketch. As I looked out my bedroom window this afternoon, it was beautiful. Everything was bright. A palm tree on the other side, some one's old TV antenna and lots of trees. Our yellow rose bush is blooming. It rained today so everything was green and pretty. My usual mode of operation for now is the Ipad/P-53. In the studio though, I am using acrylics and gouache and finding it difficult to control the brush as well as the paint.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Gardens & Parks, Heaven Scent, GloriaV

Hope it's okay to post this cartoon style photo of my Jasmine. I'm working on a Van Gogh project right now and didn't want to miss out. I didn't have anything prepared so I hope I'm not cheating?

Heaven Scent

This is a digital enhanced cartoon style of our front yard entrance to the front door. It's a Jasmine plant that we let grow and trimmed to allow entrance. If it's the right time of year, as you walk under it, the scent just grabs you. The roses to the left have there own exotic scent as well so you are in heaven scent in that very moment.

This needs trimming right now. As you can see, our outside tree lights are still up and will stay up probably till they don't work. Tee hee. There is a yucca tree to the right of the arch.
Have a wonderful day and now on to the kitchen to cook some asparagus.

Gardens and Parks, Having A Look,GloriaV

HAVING A LOOK

This isn't our garden but it definitely is similar to what we have. The "person" is probably meant to be my husband who is dedicated to the gardens/yard. Perhaps he is just standing around feeling mesmerized with the beauty of growth. We have no hills in our backyard but I threw them in. I love to imagine things that make me happy.

Trees galore, plants thriving, fish are happy and life is good. To me, the old saying, "Home is where the heart is" is definitely what I believe in.

It's a little messy and quickly sketched on the Ipad, BUT it's here so you can see. Right now besides the garden, I'm working on another project but I know where you are and I will make it a point to be here from time to time. Thanks for hosting Lynn and you too Ann for providing info needed.

HAPPY DAY TO ALL.

Yellow of the yard, Gardens and Parks, GloriaV

I came back to say Happy Spring to all! (added after posting)

Well I did go out back again and yes my Ipad was a little dark but it worked for what was being doodled. Right now there is not much color in the backyard except for greens and browns. There are though a few plants that have color on them and the name of the yellow plant I'm not sure, but it has yellow leaves and is colorful all year long.

What is flowering though is a rose tree with yellow roses. I call it old faithful because it always blooms happily. I did quick sketches and as you can see, it's not very good.:(

What can I say, me does not know how to draw flowers and stuff.:)

Yellow of  the yard
Yellow of the yard, glv, 2014, PPPP, Ipad/P53

This is on the North side of the house and gets a lot of sun. The tree is a yellow rose tree, name unknown and has been there for years. We planted it many moons ago. The plant to the side is actually a hedge that might be called Forsythia. I'm not sure. It has been trained to grow like a big plant instead of hedges. We do have a lot of these yellow hedges growing on the other side of the angel garden from yesterday. To the left of the rose tree is our chili, tomato, onions, garlic and other garden.

Our Angel Sitting Area, Gardens and Parks,GloriaV

This is one garden area in our backyard outside the back door. In front of this area is my studio, the garage . I'm looking south. We built a trellis a few years back, it's painted white and there are David Austin beautifully scented roses growing on it. None right now, but soon. Around the perimeter of this area are lots of rose bushes, various types and color. There is an angel statue in the middle, I couldn't draw it and also had a difficult time with the lay of the land.

My family pet member Chocolatte and I sit there where the two chairs and table are at, also we have breakfast out there when everything is in bloom.  Our yard is a football field size so it goes way back and we have lot of different gardens.  My favorite is my cactus garden, way out back. Well you know how I did this-took my Ipad outside, sat and doodled while Chocolatte snacked on one of her snacks.

Tomorrow it's time for me to put my herbs in larger containers. Looking forward to that. Sorry if  this drawing is a little dilapidated, but until I learn the lay of the land, your stuck with my nonsense. tee hee.

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Walking Home, Gardens and Parks, GloriaV

In my imagination I see this lady with a red dress walking down the path to her home. It's going into Spring so there is still a chill in the air. The fireplaces are going in a couple of homes and her son walks ahead of his mom,  kind of looking at us as we see them. It's a quaint neighborhood with nice homes, gardens, with manicured lawns and church going peoples. Perhaps in her bag she holds makings for bread in the kitchen and a treat for her son as well. Ah, imagination.....Think I'll go back to sleep. Tee hee.

Have a great day everyone and I will try to get to your posts today.

Walking Home-PPPP, Ipad/P53glv

As you can see, the lay of the  land and houses, buildings, etc., still puzzle me.  It's good to continue to learn.

Parks and Gardens GloriaV

I drew this yesterday. It is an outside scene, but lives in my dreams. I did a post on this on my blog and then realized I can use the picture here too since it pertains to the outside world so to speak. There is a small garden of flowers about the diner.

My imaginary mind says this little diner named Gloria's Comida (food) serves the peoples well. Lots of flowers and a shade tree with tables around so peoples can eat outside if they so desire. Small and quaint place. Ipad/P53
