I'm dreaming of my tomato harvest at the end of the summer. Then I will eat tomatoes that taste like tomatoes instead of the tasteless ones I get at the grocery store.

I had to use the internet for this, as the only picture that I have was not good enough, but my first pet was a Scottie named Dutchess. Most of what I remember is stories about her she had puppies 3 days before I was born. Another story is that when I was about 1 1\2 yrs old, I was in the back of our house with my Mom on a winter day with heavy snow on the ground. Mom went inside to get something thinking, that I would be ok. When she came out, I was nowhere to be seen. I had wandered away on the heavy crust on the snow. Duchess kept running back and forth between me and Mom until my Mom found me. This sketch is not my Duchess, but I have always loved Scotties since.

I really do live a "shelties life". Though we have had other wonderful dogs [German Shepherd,Bloodhound and Collie mix}, I have always had a Sheltie too. I got my first Sheltie 40 years ago and can't be without one. Now I have 3, B.J., Cara and Beau. Life is never dull around my house.

My first ever self- portrait.I don't think it looks like me,but that's o.k., because I can never make sketches of people look like them. I have set a goal of doing 31 faces in January. This is #8,but first of me. I did this looking at myself in the mirror,maybe Ill do another from a photo. Colored this with colored pencil since my new Platnum Preppy pen has water-soluable ink in it still and didn't want to smudge it. This was fun.

I love to be out in nature and I like to paint wild creatures. Fortunately my husband likes to photograph nature, especially birds, so I have plenty of reference photos to work from.

I am a retired registered nurse living with my husband and 3 shelties in Boise, Idaho.  I paint in watercolor ,pastels and colored pencils.  I also keep a sketchbook in which I do at least one sketch a day.  I am looking forward to participating in this group/
