My first pet, Jean Bernick
I had to use the internet for this, as the only picture that I have was not good enough, but my first pet was a Scottie named Dutchess. Most of what I remember is stories about her she had puppies 3 days before I was born. Another story is that when I was about 1 1\2 yrs old, I was in the back of our house with my Mom on a winter day with heavy snow on the ground. Mom went inside to get something thinking, that I would be ok. When she came out, I was nowhere to be seen. I had wandered away on the heavy crust on the snow. Duchess kept running back and forth between me and Mom until my Mom found me. This sketch is not my Duchess, but I have always loved Scotties since.

Pets, Ann Hyde
As a kid I had a guinea pig - well, for a while.
That was until the day I went out to the shed to see it,
and discovered, it was in fact a she, and she had produce babies!

Favorite animal, "Nekobus" by Elaine (jaguarish)
I have not had many pets in my life (just aquarium fish) but I do like cats. Unfortunately my husband is allergic so I usually just admire from afar. In thinking about the theme, though, I remembered that one of my favorite movie characters is the "bus" in the animated movie "Totoro" which is actually a cat with mice on its head for running lights. (Donna you should love this!)
"Neko" is the Japanese word for cat. This character is also known as the catbus. My drawing has come out a bit creepy but he's actually a very charming character.
I looked at a few images to refresh my memory then tried to do this little drawing without reference. It's in the tiniest sketchbook I've ever owned, smaller than a credit card, which a friend sent me for Xmas.

One of my earliest pets, was a budgie. A blue one, he could talk and would say "Pop gone to work" - "Ann gone to school". Except sometimes he would muddle it up and say "Pop gone to school" - "Ann gone to work" !!!!

Favorite Animals, "My First Pet, 'Doc'", Lynn Cohen
I remember the Sunday morning I was sitting on the floor in our living room looking at the comics in the newspaper, and my dad came in and pulled something out of his sport jacket pocket and set it down next to me. It was a tiny ball of white fur with two big blue eyes! I was five years old! I had that cat until I was 19! I'll never forget Doc!
I drew this with my new 1.5 tip Parallel Pen and some Le Pens for color! Water brush moved the black ink on Doc's once white fur!
