Who we are, About Me by Elisa Choi

I like to sketch on location and sketching in pen is something that helps me to "quickly" express and have a personal connection of what I see. I like how I remember the things that I see more than just taking a number of photographs. I enjoy painting in lots of different colors and seeing my sketches come to life. I hope to inspire others to try and sketch their lives wherever they are. I think it's one way to just slow down and savor the little things.

This sketch is at a pie resto. They serve great pies. :)

Who we are, knitting a sock, by Elaine

Kind of interesting to draw my knitting.   These two interests of mine don't usually intersect!  I am using a self striping yarn, Paton's Dreamtime.  This is my first sock (not counting some slippers in thick yarn that I made last year).  I am somehow finding this quite a challenge, maybe because I keep losing track of where I am up to in the pattern, so often have to undo 4 or 5 rows when I notice a mistake down the track...

I have named these "Mockingjay socks" because of the colours and because I like the Hunger Games.  If you are curious what the finished item will look like, here is a link to the pattern on Ravelry:

Who we are, Ann Hyde

I really enjoy watercolours, but I also use Acrylics and Oils.  This painting was done some time ago based  on the local moors of Exmoor and Dartmoor (my own interpretation version).  I call it

"Pony on the Moor"
Acrylic on canvas
and measures approx 30" x 24"

Who we are, drawing my day, by Elaine

This morning I walked to the bus stop and started drawing, with the idea that I would draw things throughout the day.  Sadly, I dropped my pen and bent the nib (the fine nib which made the grey lines below) and drawing options became a bit limited after that.  Also, I was a bit sad about damaging my pen!

Who we are, Ann Hyde

Another aspect of who I am as an artist is sketching William the lurcher...no doubt you have heard of him!

And also our daughter's little dog Hamish
