Well, it's a bit 'different' I've drawn this in Pen entirely, that's something I don't usually do.

Watercolor is not my usual medium.

So for this challenge I chose these parameters.  Use watercolor, only one color. I chose to sketch on a 4x6 index card. I could only use one brush a 3/4 inch flat. And I could only sketch for 3 minutes. 

So I couldn't try to get details. Just values. Dark,mid and light.

I picked a random photo a family member took.

This month I'm participating in a challenge called EDM, which means Draw Everyday in May to a list of prompts.

Drawing digitally was also something I got exposed to in Sketchbook Skool's "Stretching" klass.

There's a lot of discussion about the right stylus to use. Some of them can cost as much as $60! I'm happy just using my finger, and it's free!

New & Different Art Supplies, Flower Garden Using Markers, Karen Nason

I'm a very new artist, so I don't really have a medium yet. I usually do use watercolors and ink pens. I recently learned some new techniques using markers so that is a new challenge for me. I have never really liked markers, but if you have the right kind of markers, it can make all the difference in the world.

I recently took an online class and this is the class project for it.

I didn't really like some of the markers I used so I tried again in watercolor and then again using prismacolor markers.

I liked the prismacolor markers a lot more. Of course the box of markers I have from prismacolor has a good selection. Having good shades to choose from is the key I think. I learned a lot and have been continuing to use markers.

These are flowers that I like drawing and I tried out the marker techniques I learned. I find my self really loving the look and want to keep using markers.

This was a great challenge, I'm excited to see the different mediums or tools you all decide to try.

I ordered some new stationery recently from Cult Pens ---- no I'm not sponsored by them but just thought I would say where I got this new supply I'm about to use....the thing is, when I make a reasonable Order from Cult Pens, they very kindly send me freebies, as a taster to what they sell (hoping I'll buy these in the future I guess)....so thought I would give this a go here for our Theme...

This is what I received... two Staedtler pencils, one graphite and the other this Orange one in the Noris range

so I drew a Selfie from a photograph...

YIKES!

Actually, it was fun to draw with a completely different pencil

plus it was a challenge....in fact I'll be using this pencil again for other

drawings, so it worked (their 'advertising') but who wins....

them for promoting something different

My usual medium is Watercolour, although

I do use acrylics from time to time.

On this occasion I've used something from my store of supplies...

a Daler Board and guess who I've drawn....

got to say, this is a Work In Progress ---- I may well do the background

in a pale blue.  I'm looking for a washed out effect with this - wish me luck.

My whimsical response to your challenge of using a media one is not used to using. I used Derwent Metallic Pencils and Caran d'Ache Supracolor soft colored pencils  - both water-soluble used with water mostly/
This scene is inspired by a bronze cast sculpture of Galatea (,Greek sea nymph) installed in Port Townsend, Washington. Behind the actual fountain. a high staircase leads to the Uptown area of the city. First shown at the 1893 World Columbian Exposition in Chicago,  the original of this statue, a 7' woman with cherubs and sea creatures, at her feet, was purchased from a catalog in 1906 and has had several incarnations including a breast augmentation in the 1950's by someone who thought the original model was too flat-chested.

The new art supplies I used on this were the Winsor & Newton Watercolor Markers! So bright and fluid. I did not add water, but could have.
