Patterns, Cafe Table, by Elaine

Drawn at lunchtime today... I intended to capture the overall pattern but found myself drawn into the nooks and crannies of the 3d shape and sides.

Patterns and textures, Ogee Tunic, by Elaine

There are gorgeous patterns in this knitting book by Norah Gaughan.  These designs incorporate different patterns in nature like fractals and spirals - fascinating!

Patterns, teapot reflections, by Elaine (jaguarish)

I just remembered I did this recently, inadvertently making life hard on myself trying to draw the curved reflection of already curvy shapes.  Talk about tricky!

This challenge has me on the lookout for patterns.  I'm looking forward to doing more!

Texture and Patterns, Lynn Cohen "Patterns at Starbucks Cafe on Sunday"

These are both patterns I saw in clothing I drew today, while drawing at Starbucks Café.
First his plaid shirt. It was cotton. I am seeing a lot of plaid flannel shirts this season,
in fact I am wearing them myself!
I cropped him out of a larger drawing I did.

She is also cropped out of her group. Being the only one wearing something patterned. She had a  silky looking floral scarf draped over her shoulders. It was a pretty pattern!

This prompt has me looking for patterns this week!

These were done on gray toned paper in a Strathmore spiral art journal, 80# paper,
with Micron ink pen 03, white gel pen, and KOH-I- NOOR watercolors and a
mixture of brands of water soluble colored pencils.

Patterns, pineapples, by Elaine (jaguarish)

Pineapples caught my interest about a year ago and they've been on my mind.  I rarely doodle these days (much preferring to draw a real subject) but I do like to screen print T shirts.  With that in mind, I woke up one morning with a clear idea of making a pineapple picture using a pattern of Baroque curlicues.  First I painted the more realistically coloured, yellow/green pineapple on the right, to fix the "normal" look and shape of a pineapple in my head, then went with the curlicues for the left-hand image.

Meanwhile I have a pineapple dish given me by a dear friend who noticed my obsssion and I drew it for one Inktober offering.  On the same page, I played with making up a new pineapple print, and a different pattern (nothing to do with pineapples).

Textures and Patterns, Lynn Cohen "Costumes at Starbucks"

The paisley printed blouse on the far right and the stripped dress both fell right into the patterns topic for these two weeks! I drew them today at Starbucks. (where else?)
