Flowers, Pollination Daisy, Penny Lee StewArt

"Pollination Daisy" Impasto Heavy Acrylic applied with palette knife.
Done for a challenge on Artist Reference Photos Facebook Group
Thanks to Shawn Parker for the Photo Reference.
I always think paintings look better with a mat.  My daughter thinks they should always be white, but I prefer colors.  This is my last 6x6 mat so I will paint 5x7s from now on.  I have lots of those mats!  I can cut my wc paper any size, and if I coat it with Gesso, it makes a good surface to accept acrylic paints.

The finished painting looked boring to me, so I spattered the yellow "pollen" on last and now I like it.  On Daily Paintworks for Auction.

  2. lovely painting, in this case I don't think a white mat would look good.

  4. Thank you all! Linda Starr, I agree with you, but galleries evidently like white or cream color mats. Good thing I am not showing my art in a gallery. LOL.

  5. I am not in favor neither of white like your daughter said. Yet I see the galleries like the white. Really.

    Your art is beautiful!
