Close to Home (by an hour and a half) Lynn Cohen

Today we drove not too far from home, about an hour and a half away to Auburn, CA where we went to a live music party. We heard two favorite musicians we've been following since the 1970's.
Dick Holdstock and Allan MacLeod. They sing English and Irish music. If you'd like to hear them too look them up on UTube.

I listened and drew while DH sang along. These three folks were sitting in front of me.
I used a Prismacolor pen, 03 I believe, on a small 5" X 7" , 80 lb. Co-Mo Sketch by Bee Paper pad.
Winsor & Newton Watercolors on second picture.

I really enjoyed drawing hair today.

Here they are, Allan on the left and Dick on the right, singing away in front of a quilt made by the home hostess's great grandmother in the late 1880's. The quilt was mostly in black and dark colors. This does not do it justice. Interestingly enough, my ex-husband and wife have a very similar quilt that has hung in their home for many years. I think it must have been a common dark "crazy quilt" in the day.

And now we are home!

    1. Yes, cross hatching is fun while sitting there listening to music. At times I wondered if anyone was being disturbed by my pen on paper sounds...hope not.

  5. Music and sketching are a great combination. I know I get into the groove especially if it is live. Both of these are really nice.
