Yesterday I went driving to find something to sketch but stayed close to home because we were expecting more snow. This was sketched at Artist Lake. There were so many birds hanging out there...gulls, ducks, and geese. I think they were hoping I would feed them. Before I left some men came and started drilling a hole in the ice. I guess they were planning on doing some ice fishing. lol I'd rather sit in my car and be warm.

This is such a sweet painting Joan.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a sweet painting.. anything with critters in it is. :) but burr. poor birdies.
ReplyDeleteThis is so darn charming to me. Not a fan of living in snowy environs at all, do not like cold! But your ducks remind me of my late mother- in- law who lived in Minnesota and fed ducks that visited her home every year, along with birds and squirrels! This could/should be on a greeting card!
ReplyDeleteGuess what Lynn Cohen, I live in Minnesota and can totally related to your story!
DeleteYou are really capturing the feel for winter in your area!
ReplyDeleteJoan, you have found lovely birds to sketch. They are wondering, why they don´t find any open water:) The weather is really upside down this year, the snowstorms and coldness should be here now, but we have no snow and also we have some + grades. Usually we have 1meter snow and -20 C grades coldness at this time..
ReplyDeleteI heard on a news report yesterday that the snow totals in Central Park in Manhattan this year are more than double what the average snowfall is for the area...and we are expecting another snowstorm tomorrow morning. I don't know what the totals have been out here on Long Island but it seems to be a lot more than usual, and one storm after another. We usually get snow once or twice and that is it.
DeleteThanks everyone!!! I Think there are so many birds in this area (I left out 90% of them.) because people pull up in their cars and feed them all the time. Every time a different car pulled up they all started waddling over to see if they would be fed.
ReplyDeleteI would love to join this group! Would appreciate an invite! Thank you!
