"The Green Mansion in Eureka, CA", Buildings Around the World, Lynn Cohen
I'm pleased that the homework I am doing in Sketchbook Skool in semester 2, "Seeing" is applicable for posting here in our "Buildings Around the World" theme. This was an assignment to lay down a quick wash of watercolor then draw slowly over it, as I've done in the previous two houses I posted here. This one took close to three hours to complete. It's a huge mansion (green) in Eureka, California, where we were this past weekend for a nice relaxing visit. I drew it from the photo I took of it. Ann is in the same class. I hope she'll post some of what she's doing there as well.

I love that technique! It was seeing your work at the skool Facebook page that helped me to find this site. I cannot imagine doing that much detail in just 3 hours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Beach Cat. So happy you came to us from SBS. (Sketchbook Skool). My eyes were about worn out by the time I got done with this one last night.
DeleteYou have been picking such complex houses to sketch, Lynn. I am amazed by your detail!!! Looks like you are enjoying this round of skool too.
ReplyDeleteI am Joan. The classes are great fun as is the camaraderie with the other students. I'm so glad I signed up for a second semester. And look forward to a third. I did enjoy taking time with details on all these wonderful buildings.

DeleteLynn, I can easy believe it took three hours to sketch the house, so much work you have done the details with it! Very nice work.
