Music and Musicians, Strumming by Joan Tavolott

This guy strumming his guitar was in the same reference photo as the woman I painted yesterday (one more to go). For some reason he reminds me of Bob Dylan...maybe it is that wild hair.

  1. Guitars are not easy to draw, either, but you have cracked it, and the difficult hand positions. Through studying your sketches on PPP&P I have become braver in just fading out a sketch in some of my other sketchbook work as you have done here. I love that effect, and so happy to learn from you and others. I like this one and look forward to the next one.

    1. Jez, thank you so much for your sweet comment. I have been trying to focus on the hand positions since I know how important they are. Luckily I have a Mac and can really zoom in on most images easily. There is one more musician that was with this group and I'll sketch him later today.

    1. Thanks, Lynn! He looked so "into" the music when I took the photo.

  3. I feel like I know this guy, too. I love how you've done his rumpled coat, and his hair, and his pose - definitely looks into what he's doing.

  4. Joan I did like the lady playing and now this is guy if I can say with out any offenses. Rough features but ready and was able to get into his mood of presentation for the public. .

Another splendid art from you Joan.
