Sirkka, this is really lovely! I love the expression on this...like he is just absorbed in the music! Well done!
ReplyDeleteJoan, he is really absorbed in the music When he is singing. Thank you, Joan, I am glad you like this portrait.
DeleteSirrka, I have so much to learn from you. A group of us at sketchbook Skool are practicing drawing each other's portraits, see some I did on my blog if you like. This is stunning. The crevices in his face, the lightness of his hair, amazing! Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLynn, yes, Iwill take a look at your blog, thanks! I have much to learn from you, Lynn. I am happy, that you like the portrait!
DeleteI love this impressive portrait, his mouth is shaped so well that I can hear there is a voice coming out. I don't recognise the singer - so would you say who he his, please, then perhaps I can hear him on You Tube. Every detail and shade of paint is lovely, just right.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Jez, about the mouth. It is not so easy to recognise the singer, you oftens have seen him as younger on estrades, now he is 90 years filled, still giving concerts, on his birthday 22. may this year, he gave a concert in Berlin. He has been elected to the century´s entertainer in 1900-century. He is the french-armenien singer Charles Aznavour. I love his music, his voice. his style. Perhaps you will take a look at him on YouTube and tell me then, what you did like of him.
DeleteOoh, this is a wonderful portrait. His face is full of so much kindness, and light. I was curious too about who he is - I will look him up!
ReplyDeleteI am glad Margaret that you will too listen to him. She,Ser, Etre, Dija, La Mamma, Mourir DÁimer, a s o are songs I like so much. And the voice makes that the hair raise on my skin. I think too, there is much kindness and light on his.
DeleteWOW what a voice! I have only listened to one song so far (She) but thank you for these recommendations, I will listen to more.
DeleteAnd now that I've seen and heard him sing, I can say, you REALLY got that mouth! :)
DeleteOh, thank you, Margaret, for your kindness, the mouth and others. I am glad you liked his song. I sometimes must listen to his songs again and again. I love his voice that he is so concentrated when he sings.
DeleteOh I like it very much your portrait of Charles Aznavour . Even his white hair shows ageing is honored in a man. Sirkka I applaud you. I too will look him up on You-tube and listen to him. Will come back and tell you what I think..
ReplyDeleteI am glad you like this portrait. The white hair on a man is beautiful, how is it on a woman, I only ask..Thank you. I would really love to hear what you like of his songs. I can´t wait.
DeleteI listen to tow songs on you-tube. His singing I did not know his mother tongue I did listen through one selection first and then I switched over to another song he sang my choice selected. . Ave Maria beautifully. He is a good looking distinctioned Gentleman.
ReplyDeleteMy husbands relative is Dutch and is a singer and has now passed away but he sang Ave Maria too so I can relate to your singer you love through that song. Your Charles was very strong in his presentation vocally of Ave Maria. I enjoyed him. The video was a wee bit disturbing but facts as it is. One can never candy coat the deaths of humans and children. And the Lord he paid it all for all. Thank you for sharing Charles Aznavour. Amen.
Thank you for your opinion sparkle! I am glad you too got a look into his world. His language is French, but he is singing also in English, Spanish, Italian, German. He speaks also these languages at least a little, so he can manege to talk in tv-programs. He sings even in Armenian language, and in Jiddish.
DeleteI tried to find English to listen to him Sirkka. Perhaps I am not figuring how to translate in You-tube. Please call me Carol Ann or Carol is fine .
DeleteMy name sparkle is nick name people had given me even where I live as they say I smile alott so I used it but I cannot get it off so I try to tell people I am Carol Ann. Have a good evening.
as I use it for my photographs. I am not computer Savvy to know in that.
Ok, Carol Ann, thanks, now I know, your nickname and blogname is a bit long. I only have listened and heard which songs are in English a.s.o. He sings in English for example Yesterday when I was young, To die of love, She, To my daughter, (and many more) . I hope you find something to listen of him. Have a nice evening with the songs! Thank you for your comment.
DeleteThis is a beautiful and thoughtful watercolor portrait, Sirkka. Good work!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Fran. I appreciate your words.
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed by this picture! It can be seen that he is in his world of music, singing. And I love the way you did it - I think you used water color..?? And I'm a little bit sorry that I have to write in English which means thinking about every single word.... otherwise I would have written much more :)
ReplyDeleteCiao Beo
Thank you Beo! I understand you about English, I am not writing in my "own" language either and must search words in the dictionary, but we manege it! I am very impressed of your words. Yes, I used watercolors in this picture. And yes, he is in his own world of music. Also in the reality he is very concentrated when he is singing. Ciao!
