Music and Musicians, "Guilty Art" Lynn Cohen
This is a drawing I did a few years ago. I am posting it to appease my own guilt here, as I am focused right now on drawing portraits in Sketchbook Skool of fellow students and there has been no music in my life of late. (You can see the portraits on my blog: Getting My Feet Wet). But no one there is singing or playing an instrument.
My husband happens to be playing guitar in the living room right now and is singing, but it's almost midnight and I am too tired to draw him quickly!
I am so impressed with all that YOU are drawing and posting here for our Music and Musicians theme. Hopefully it will work out for me to add to the mix soon. The people in my drawing were listening to live music in our Town Square!
Please forgive me!

Love the girl with guitar below, well love all of these as they spontaneity is very refreshing. Music is a good theme, last night we went to a restaurant with cajun food and they had zydeco music and it made me realize I need to add more music to my life. I also remembered my brother (passed away at too young an age) used to play the accordion when he was very young. Music and art should be encourage at young ages and I like that you encouraged your grand daughter to draw.
ReplyDeleteLynn, I don't know when you find the time to do all those portraits. This is a great sketch of people chillin' and it the music isn't playing outside it probably is playing in their heads.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a good theme because it allows for a wide range of art responses, and sketching people listening to music in the open air is yet another aspect, quite different. Lovely sketch with a very relaxed feel about it. Where would we be without music - and art.
ReplyDeleteThis is great Lynn! The guy looks so relaxed and you can tell he's listening - letting it wash over him. The details on the chairs are great too, and the overturned Starbucks cup.
ReplyDeleteoh it is great Lynne I agree with Margaret. People listening to music. I see it is perfectly acceptable. Thumbs up for you also.
ReplyDeleteYou drew it. Clever and detailed.
