Little did I know yesterday when I drew this colorful rooster from a photo from the "Paint My Photo" site on our side bar (non-copyright), that over at Sketchbook Skool we'd be drawing animals for the next two weeks with Roz Stendhal. So I can't be better lined up for our theme here and what I'll be learning there at the very same time if I had planned it this way myself!
I enjoyed drawing Mr. R. using a black Micron pen, then my Tom Bow Brushes (markers), and an Expo Dry Erase red marker as my red Tom Bow was dried out! I had to go digging in my stash to find a red replacement and this did just fine.
Now I have to go see if I can chase my cat, Henry, down to draw!

Very colorful! Nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol. Glad you like the colorfulness of it, I enjoyed drawing him in all his regal splendor.
DeleteHi Lynn...Darlene here from SS. Always enjoy what you post at SS and I see you are involved in another creative group. Love the title of this group. This is fabulous...his posture you have captured and his color against the foliage in your background. It all works!
ReplyDeleteCheers-
Darlene

Darlene, great that you found the time to stop by and see our art here. Thank you for leaving comments on all the contributing artists works here! Do come again, often.
DeleteThis is brilliant Lynn. LOVE the colours you used :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, it was fun to do.
DeleteI hope you are gaining a lot out of Sketchbook Skool, your work does show a freedom for adventure with different mediums. Good for you.
DeleteI love the strength of your marker painting of the rooster and you've captured that haughty challenging stare that roosters have, and he looks great against the background of the foliage. I was hoping that birds would be permissible in the 'animals' theme, as I wanted to include birds, especially a rooster because I love drawing chickens and cockerels. I look forward to seeing what you produce in the next fortnight of Sketchbook Skool - what a happy bit of serendipity.
ReplyDeleteAren't birds animals? I thought they were! Of course they are acceptable for our theme. I will add them into the name of it to so everyone is sure. Hey, even extinct dinosaurs are fair game! ;-)
DeleteThis is a brilliant rooster, Lynn! He is so proud with his sight, beautiful colors. I love chickens and roosters!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sirkka!
DeleteOH I like your colorful Mr Rooster.. Does he want to come play with my Hens?? lol
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'd enjoy that very much Cris!
DeleteWonderful colors and I love how the ink adds so much depth to the sketch. This came out great!
