My radio/CD player, a gift from my friend Christina (I had it before I had many household things! :) Priorities…), sits on a stool in my kitchen.

Daily Life, Radio by Margaret Coote
Since our public radio station is doing its pledge drive right now it seemed appropriate for me to claim my radio listening as an important part of my daily life. I do! I listen every day! Morning and evening.

Oh, I've always loved my radio more than TV, and the programmes are much better. I've just bought a digital radio for better reception (and it's good) but radios these days don't have CD players, probably they assume everyone downloads to their i-pod or whatever it's called. So I'm keeping my old radio/CD player.
ReplyDeleteLovely quick sketch - sketches like these have such vitality.
I agree, Jez, the radio programs are really good! I enjoy the radio all the time, and music on the CD player. I hope this sketch conveys some of the joy I get from this appliance! :)
DeleteI love the colors you chose here. the pink and blue washes are so pleasant to my eye. That's quite the boom box you have there too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI rarely if ever listen to the radio anymore except when traveling in the car!
Thank you, Lynn! Yes, it's an important fixture here. :)
DeleteI have mine in my art room. My hubby bought it as a Birthday many years ago. Even the speakers. I have radio and I can play my own cds.
ReplyDeletePlus even cassets. I have some of those still. Nice fast sketch Margaret. Cool colors of blobs here and there. Ha-ha.
Oh, wow, I wish I had a cassette player still! Hold on to yours! Thank you Carol Ann!
DeleteMargaret, nice sketch of your radio. With all the changes and improvements in technology we keep losing things too. I have a small boom box that still has a radio and CD player...and somewhere we have lots of music on cassettes. lol It is almost impossible to find something to play those on any more....sort of like my collection of VCR tapes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joan! I know, I miss cassettes a lot. But…we must move on…and embrace what is good :) I put my old iPod in there, since it's attached to the radio. Even it is ancient technology now!
Deletethis is nice margaret! what radio station is that? lovely colors and sketch!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elisa! It is our public radio station (WXXI) - NPR or National Public Radio. They do news shows, culture shows, where they interview artists, writers and musicians, and just in general have something interesting almost all the time! There's also a classical music station that plays live recordings of major orchestras in the evenings. I like hearing what's going on all over the world in classical music… :)
