Animals, Black and White Cow by Joan Tavolott

This was done from another of my photos from Ireland. I love the black and white designs on her body. I am sure the milk from these cows was great. I know the butter and cheeses were!

  1. Joan, it looks like he has having a great time there he is. He has beautiful colours and is very welformed. why I write " he", because it looks to me that you have drawn a bull, Joan. This individ can not give milk, but the cow`s milk is surely very good. Your painting is beautiful as it usually is.:)

  4. Well Joan, having worked on a farm when I was a young teenager and milked the cows, by hand, I can see this is a female. Lovely black and white sketch, she looks a little like a Hereford cow, their colouring is so striking. It sounds as though Ireland found its way into your heart and has stayed there.

  6. This and the lamb belong in a children's book! I can hear the story forming as you paint and draw!

  7. Joan, I am so sorry for my comment above, it really does not matter, if this animal is female or male, you tell about the cows as group, not about this individ. I am sorry, I did not mean to be nasty against you.I hope you can forget it. Greetings, Sirkka

    1. Sirkka, don't worry! I am a city girl and looking at the photo I wasn't sure if this creature was male or female. I went with female because of the rounded belly. lol They were very nice looking animals.

  8. Thanks everyone! I didn't get to sketch too many animals when I was in Ireland, so it is fun to do a few of them now.
