In 2002 my husband and I drove cross-country for the first time from NY to California.
One of the stops we made on the way out to CA was to Sedona, Arizona. It is a beautiful spot.
The red rocks were really impressive and I loved the different formations. I did a few sketches out there, but the air was so dry and hot that the watercolors dried almost instantly.
I do hope to get back to Sedona some day.
I too have been to Sedona. I know what you mean by the rock formations and the striated colors in the rocks. They are beautiful. Your painting captures it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours, just like they really are (though hard to believe until you see it with your own eyes!) I also have been to Sedona and hope to go back someday.
ReplyDeletewonderful rocks... i can definitely feel the heat of the desert!
ReplyDeleteI made the same trip from Chicago last summer. It was a trip I'll never forget. Love your rocks and the colors used. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThe colour of the rocks is lovely Joan. That was some drive from one side of the US to the other!
ReplyDeleteFor a while my husband didn't want to fly so we drove everywhere within the states. We made the complete cross-country trip twice. It is a long drive.
DeleteGreat work, Joan! Looking at the painting, I can feel the light, dryness and heath there:)
ReplyDeleteThe colors there are amazing! Thanks everyone!!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful and what a wonderful memory keep of a beautiful place,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Laurie!
DeleteThat must have been a tremendously long drive. Having watched so many cowboy films when I was young, there were so many places like this that I wanted to see, but it never happened. The red of the rocks is so rich, and the rock formations look like carved figures. Wonderful to see things like that.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we had a comfortable car to travel in and weren't on horseback for the trip. LOL Thanks! I'm glad that we got to see some of the many places I had wanted to see for so long.
