Away From Home, Visiting an artmuseum, Sirkka Jalava

A summer when the kids were about ten years, more or less, we went to visit a tivoli and there in neighborhood was an art museum too. When the boys had made everything in the tivoli and got tired, we went up to eat  in a moving tower (it circles around around slowly and you can admire the magnific view on the seas and forests and the city too.) After that it was time to go to the museum and see what they had. I dont remember who´s exhibition there was, but there was this hand too in a big size statue and my little boy seems to be interested in it. He is wondering about something perhaps.  I have only this photo and an other one from the museum.

  2. Thank you Jez! You are so right about photos, they fresh up the memories. Good, that you ask, Jez, I don´t find just that word in the dictionary, but I try to tell you. Tivoli is an entertainment place where you can find different apparates for entertainments, such as do drive a minicar, there is a roller-coaster and much more, that the kids love.So you know now?

  3. Thanks Sirkka, I had a vague idea because you said the kids had tried everything, but it is clearly much more than that. You have expanded my vocabulary now - thanks.
Looking at the sketch again, I think the hand is such a powerful image whether it's real, a painting or a sculpture, and you have captured the power of that hand.

  4. Thanks for explaining what a tivoli is. I sort of assumed that was what it meant since Tivoli Gardens has all kinds of amusements and rides. I like this sketch with the giant had almost as big as your son. Nicely sketched! It sounds like you had a fun time there.

    1. Thank you Joan! You are wellcome! It is interesting with different languages, some words are like and mean the same, some words dont exist in many languages. I assumed that tivoli was a word to be the same in every languages, but not then. Glad you like the sketch, the hand was big indeed.
