I've visited Washington, DC several times and there is always something exciting to see.
Back in 1979 a friend and I went to see a Calder exhibit at the National Gallery of Art.
For this sketch I used a photo I took of one of Calder's mobiles
suspended over the lobby of the gallery.
Love it! I am in awe of people who can sketch and draw, as my abilities in this area are ... limited. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteIt was the time of mobiles. Great sketch, Joan!
ReplyDeleteI love huge pieces of sculpture like this. Your painting is so good, I can feel the balance of the mobile in the air. Lovely drawing of that huge space it is suspended in.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! I always loved Calder's mobiles. Since I'm lucky I balance on my feet, it amazes me that this balances in the air. lol
ReplyDeleteAww....you really captured this one. Not an easy subject with a mobile floating in the scene. Lovely job.
ReplyDeleteAnn, thanks! It was much easier capturing it from a photo than it would have been doing it on location. LOL
ReplyDeleteCool choice Joan, love the perspective on this one! And the bright RED mobile!
ReplyDeleteJoan, I love this! You have really captured this wonderful mobile. I want to go there!
