Art Supplies, paint palette, Ann Hyde

I have various differently sized palettes, but the one permanently next to me on my desk is a large metal version, with lots of colours in it.  Although, like most people, I don't use all the colours...Note to self:  Must update this palette.

I used paint (greyish) to outline the tin, then added the colours. When dry I outlined with my Safari Lamy pen.

    1. Thanks Joan, what a great idea. I see other folks art supplies and get total art supply envy. Saying that I go into Art Supply shops and ALWAYS, without fail, come out having bought something (even if I don't need it) and don't even think about Online....I'm the SAA's best customer! lol.

  2. I like the angle you did this box! And I like knowing how you do things (paint first, lines after).

    1. Thanks Margaret, it's just how I saw the box on my desk. Perhaps I should do a little video one day.

  3. I really love looking at paintings of watercolor boxes, especially when they look well used. I love this, Ann, and I'll check out the SAA!

  4. Our drawing styles are exact opposites Ann. I draw first in ink, paint after. What brand paints are these I wonder? I'm a sucker for new/more art supplies too. Probably have more now than I can use up in my lifetime. But always hear of something new I want to try. Have you tried Doctor Martin PH liquid ink watercolors? They come with droppers, you mix with water, the coolers are very intense, but they fade in light over time, but are touted to be great for art journals, as the pages are not exposed to light for long. I still want those.

I like your nicely done rendition of your paints, Ann.

    1. Sometimes I draw with ink first, it just depends sometimes on the subject. No, I haven't tried Doctor Martin PH inks - although, I do have inks. I've the Liquitex Acrylic inks, they are in a bottle with a dipper and very very strong. In fact, I have to make sure I cover surfaces and make sure I'm not wearing clothes to spoil, as I'm very messy with them for some reason, lol.

  5. I love the looseness of this sketch. I am like you, Ann, sometimes I paint first and sometimes I do the drawing first. I like Peerless Liquid Watercolors. They are intense.

  7. Nice job ann. I miss a nice art store. Yes one can always send for things but it's not the same as feeling or smelling them .:))
