Art Supplies, My Small Palette by Joan Tavolott

Usually when I go out sketching I use a very small palette. You can see it is smaller than my hand. My sister gave it to me as a gift. It came empty and I filled it with pan colors of my choosing. I even labeled the colors on the outside so I know what they are to replace them. Even with 12 sections for paints I ended up adding a few dabs of other colors on the top lid. It works especially well for sketching because it is small and has a finger hole underneath, so I can easily balance it and work on my sketchbook in my lap. I liked this paint palette so much I bought a few more so that I have one in my car and one in my beach bag. That way I always have a set of paints handy.

I love its tiny size. I can put this, a sketchbook, a pencil, eraser, ink pen, small sketchbook, and this water brush into any small purse I have and I will have anything I could need for a sketch.

  2. Very cool, Joan. What brand is the palette? I love how you've drawn the hands, too!

    1. Thanks, Margaret. At one time I knew the brand of the palette, but they stopped making this one. The closest I have found is a "whiskey painter's palette" and that has fewer color spaces.

    1. Elisa, like I sait to Margaret they stopped making this one. I wanted to get a few for friends and went back to the store where I bought the others, but the woman said they were discontinued. The "whiskey painters palette" is just as small but has bigger paint sections (so you can't put in as many colors). You can google that and find them. Thanks.

    2. "Whiskey painter"! I have no idea what that is, but I love the name!

  6. How cute! Of course, I want one. I'll look for the whiskey one. I usually carry only a very small purse and my compact palette won't fit in it so I have to carry a tote, too. Which is why I seldom take it. And it's heavy for it's size.
