"Kitchen" Tacos Jalisco Kitchen and Lunch Lynn Cohen

On Tuesday this week I ate lunch at my favorite haunt of three years, Tacos Jalisco, where I go to eat and draw a few doors down from my office. That day I thought how appropriate to draw their kitchen.
From my table several yards away I could see the kitchen counter, the window into the cooks area and the paraphernalia on the wall around the window. My apologies to Jesus and The Blessed Mother Mary, but it's the best this Jewish girl could do. ;-)

That sign on the right on the counter is an ad for my book: "One Fish Taco, Half an Order of Guacamole A Year of Drawing Over Lunch at Tacos Jalisco". Published by Blurb Books. *if interested you can see a sample of it from the icon on the side bar of my other blog, Getting My Feet Wet. It's all about my experience of becoming brave and getting comfortable drawing in public!

Carlos and his mom and dad were working. Carlos Sr. must have grilled my vegetables for my burrito bowl (no tortilla), as they were so well done to my taste! Mushrooms, which I just realized I neglected to add to my picture below, green, orange, and yellow bell peppers, onions, on a bed of whole beans and rice, topped with shredded lettuce and big slices of avocado! Yum!!!

and mushrooms!!!

  4. So fun to have a peek into their kitchen. I love that they have Jesus, Mary, and an ad for your book! You are in good company, girl! And is that a lucky bamboo plant on the counter? It all seems like odd decoration for a Mexican restaurant, but I like it!

  5. Yes, a lucky bamboo plant! Right, we usually see them in Chinese restaurants! And I agree I am in good company there! ;-)

  6. Wow, it looks like a real "mom and pop" type of restaurant! Just the kind of place I like. :)
Must be nice to be so famous that your book is on display. You are one of the family! I love both sketches and your handwriting "font" is so pretty!

  7. Love the sketch of the counter as well as the one of the ingredients. It looks just as I remember it from when you and I sketched it together for the other blog. LOL
