Kitchen Lynn Cohen

I came home for lunch and wondered what I could draw while eating it. Some of you seemed amazed that I can draw and eat simultaneously. Perhaps you don't know that for two whole years I ate and drew over lunch at a spot called Tacos Jalisco. I still do sometimes. So I am an expert of sorts of drawing while eating. I produced a book about it called One Fish Taco, Half an Order of Guacamole A Year of Drawing Over Lunch at Tacos Jalisco. I wrote the book about my courageous endeavor of drawing in public, something I had never done up until that time. I starting doing this outdoors (en plein air), but winter set in and I went indoors to the Mexican restaurant down the street from my office. There I met the owners and staff and was made to feel at home drawing there. Info on the book is on my other blog.
The book is published by Blurb Books.

So today, at home, indoors, I went to my kitchen drawer and pulled out three utensils. A Kitchen Aid can opener, a Julienne slicer, and a common potato peeler. I drew them with the following tools:

Prismacolor 08 black
Prismacolor C black
Faber-Castell B black
Prismacolor 005 red
Nature Sketchbook 6 in. x 12 in.

Bon Appetite

  1. Great black and white work. If you did the lettering on the can opener, that is especially good.

  5. Like Fran I am so impressed with your lettering on the can opener. Love these black and white implements. I didn't know you had made your Tacos Jalisco sketches in a book - I used to 'visit' regularly to see your sketches, and they looked so specially good when you had them hung on the wall for sale.
