I always love seeing flowers cascading over a fence. I used a reference photo I had taken out in Greenport, NY for this ATC sized painting. This is the side garden from a bed and breakfast, called Auburn House.

Joan this is so delicate and lovely. The texture of the bark, the cascading greenery, the shadows on the white fence!
ReplyDeleteThe shadows beneath the flowers, and the picket fence are so well drawn. Also the tree and the window. All in all, a perfect painting. Just enough liner work. My favorite so far.
ReplyDeleteAww, this is SO pretty - would make a great card :-)
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty in such a small space! Amazing. Love this little scene. Of course I love B & B's too. Can't wait to see where you take us on vacation!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the way you add the color to your work. This B&B looks very inviting. Wonderful painting Joan.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks everyone! I did a bigger painting of this B&B last year on location and met the owner who told me this sweet story about how he bought it for his wife who wanted to start a B&B. Then she got sick and never had a chance to open it. After a year or so he opened it on his own and has been running it for years now. I was hoping he would buy the painting, but he said the town does an art sale every winter and he only buys a new painting then because it raises money for the town...and I wasn't in that art sale.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous piece. It has a very nostalgic feel to it. Blessings!
