Gardens & Parks, Side Garden by Joan Tavolott
I always love seeing flowers cascading over a fence. I used a reference photo I had taken out in Greenport, NY for this ATC sized painting. This is the side garden from a bed and breakfast, called Auburn House.
The shadows beneath the flowers, and the picket fence are so well drawn. Also the tree and the window. All in all, a perfect painting. Just enough liner work. My favorite so far.
Many thanks everyone! I did a bigger painting of this B&B last year on location and met the owner who told me this sweet story about how he bought it for his wife who wanted to start a B&B. Then she got sick and never had a chance to open it. After a year or so he opened it on his own and has been running it for years now. I was hoping he would buy the painting, but he said the town does an art sale every winter and he only buys a new painting then because it raises money for the town...and I wasn't in that art sale.

Joan this is so delicate and lovely. The texture of the bark, the cascading greenery, the shadows on the white fence!
