My sister, Fran (deceased) lived near San Diego, California for most of her married life. She always had a garden just chock full of wonderful trees, plants, and flowers. I think her favorite was the bird of paradise plants that she grew, and I always think of her and smile when I see them. When I would go to visit her and her family I often sat out in her garden painting her flowers. This was done from a photo I took of her birds of paradise. I did this one in ATC size.

A beautiful painting no matter what size. Especially so in the small ATC size.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fran!
DeleteAgain, BEAUTIFUL! What wonderful memories of your dear sister as well. Thank you for sharing that story with us, Joan. For bringing us into the life of you and your sister.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We were really close and I always admired her skill in gardening.
DeleteThis is very beautiful, Joan. Beautiful colors and blending.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret!
DeleteBird of Paradise, a lovely flower, and you have painted it with panache!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I like that word panache!
DeleteI love these flowers, they're so unusual - great :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Ann!
DeleteIt is beautiful Joan. I like that you took pictures of your sister's garden. Memories keep us going. I have gotten into the habit of asking if I can take cuttings. Our yard consists of Olive trees, fig trees, rose bushes, yucca plants, banana trees and more that we have taken seedlings from people we know, mostly family. All wonderful memories. Great job Joan.
ReplyDeleteI have lots of photos of her garden...mostly with her and her family in it. There are lots of memories there. I like your idea of taking seedlings to add to your garden. That must make it even more special.
