Gardens & Parks - ann hyde

A Park in this drawing...when we visited Lanhydrock House  and saw how many large trees had come down during the Winter storms.  My painting has, for some reason, photographed very blue, instead the foreground is actually more Green...so please bear that in mind...You are not looking at a fallen tree on water!!!

The Location tab below takes you to Lanhydrock House.

  1. I hate it when storms down big trees like this. It seems like nothing should be able to budge them and then suddenly they are gone. It's such a common sight here, with all our hurricanes, but I never get used to it.

    1. I don't get used to these things either Melisa. I know it could be said this is a part of nature, but such a pity when trees that have stood for so long are then lost.

  2. Your use of color and line is amazing. Just enough to give us the idea of what is happening, but not too much. Lovely watercolor.

  3. Ann, a great watercolor of this fallen tree. Beautiful painting, but pitty that it is gone. I can see it is a park tree. A great place this Landhydroc House!

  7. That must have made quite a splash. lol Good sketch of the tree and its roots and the shimmer of sunlight on the water. It is sad that so much was ruined due to the storms, but nature has a way of bouncing back.

  8. Nice job. I remember the pix you took. Such a shame to lose such lovely trees. Wish those scanners and cameras would behave. :))

  9. So sad that the trees have suffered in our terrible winter , and your painting expresses that sadness so well. I agree about the problems of scanners and camera, they just never seem to get the colours right. I have a feeling we have been to Lanhydrock in the dim and distant past.
