Gardens and Parks, by Penny Stewart

Bougainvillea: Home Sweet Home
I painted this little ACEO card just before I moved into my remodeled apartment in the garage at my daughter's house.  The yard here is truly a parklike setting, with 3/4 of an acre, fruit trees, flowers, vegetable beds, plants, paths and chotchkies galore, so I am sure I will not run out of things to sketch this week.  And since it is California, the weather is warm, sunny and wonderful, and everything is in bloom. I took over 100 photos this morning, with my new Iphone, so I have lots to choose from.  I may even go outside and draw from life, but plein air is not my favorite way to paint.  I should try it though.  I do love a challenge.

  5. Your lovely blossom painting makes me long for warm weather, flowers and leafy trees. There are days when it seems will never come here in our part of England, so your pretty piece raises my spirits. It is lovely enough to be a commercial greetings card, a very happy piece.

  8. Thanks, everyone. The painting was done in watercolors, then I used white gouache to make the pinks. I love to experiment with paints.
