Walking around and sketching, close to home, by Elaine (jaguarish)

Hi everyone,

I have somehow not found time to sketch properly in theme, but I did take a little walk with my daughter recently where we both brought sketchbooks and did very fast sketches of whatever caught our fancy (while trying not to alarm our neighbours).  I wrote down the colours and added them later at home.

So I thought I would post this, as I have been so looking forward to rejoining the group here.  I took the photo with my new phone (acquired only this week!) to test out its capabilities.  I think it did a decent job but pencil on paper always comes out looking gray when I photograph it, even when I use a "real" camera. Maybe as I learn more how to use my phone I'll get these looking better.

Anyway, so glad to be rejoining everyone and loving all your sketches!  Sorry I have not had time to comment on every one, but they're all fantastic.

  1. These are lovely, Elaine. I love the traffic cone on its side in the grass.

  4. What a great way to get in a little sketching time. The flowers are pretty but for some reason, I really like the cone, LOL.

  5. Now I know your real name! lol Elaine, these are lovely little sketches. I like the flowers but the traffic cone really made me smile. It was a good idea to go out walking with your sketchbook.

  6. Thanks all, amusing that the traffic cone gets the most admiration. :) Here's a funny thing: here, safety cones (traffic cones) are colloquially called "witches' hats." As an ex-pat (American) I continue to find life in Australia bemusing and amusing!
