Rob Kulas, Close to home

I thought I would get one more sketch in the Close to Home theme.
I sketched this from my mobile studio ( my car ). I have always liked the shape of this building. And with all the snow I thought it would be a good challenge to sketch. So I sat in the parking lot enjoying a hot coffee and listening to a radio talk show while drawing away.

  1. I love the idea of you car studio artists doing this in the freezing weather! Don't your fingers get to cold to hold the pencil? Wonderful outcome here!! Good for you!!

    1. Thanks Lynn. With heated seats and a burst of warmth running the engine it's easily manageable.

  2. I often sit in our car and sketch, so it's nice to see somebody else does that too. What a great sketch you have done here...I need to check out my 9B graphite again, thanks for inspiring.

  3. I've enjoyed your snowy views. You do a great job of shading the snow. It is funny how we pass certain locations many times and then all of a sudden it pops into our heads to sketch it. Nice job!

  6. This is beautiful, Rob. I agree with Sirkka, the depths are really striking. And you (and Joan) are inspiring - I need to get a car so that I can sketch outdoors in winter, too!
