Close to Home Music in Benicia, CA on Sunday Lynn Cohen

On Sunday
we traveled thirty minutes from "close to  home" to Benicia, CA to listen to Irish Music
in a Round Table Pizza parlor's back room.

These talented men and women with their diverse array of musical instruments ...

entertained us from 2-5 PM.

They played and I drew them quickly one per song.

I do not promise exact or even close likenesses, but I did like the challenge of ...

... the many body postures ...

The gentleman below seemed to be the leader of the group. He played the Irish drum or bodhran

And unfortunately I did not draw all of this last fellow. He was wearing a kilt, but facing me directly and I didn't want to be that obvious. Besides, his huge Bass could not fit on the small page of my 6" X 4" Sketch Book. I added watercolors the following day at home.

There were more people there I did not draw. And the best part for me was when they invited my DH sing! He wowed them with is voice, which is deep and rich and I was so pleased he could share it with this group. I think we will go again.

  5. Hi Lynn, These are fabulous! I love the bassist. One of my sons switched from cello to bass because he was so shy and could hide behind the bass! I would love to join you. My email is eeklund@rochester.rr.com. Thank you!
