Still life, flowers and babycino, by Elaine (jaguarish)

I returned to the Flower Market Expresso today, and brought my son along as he's home sick... he is not into drawing flowers, but he happily munched on a smartie cookie and a babycino.  I then used his weeny cup as a sketch subject as I found it so cute, while he drew his toy monkey and assorted knick knacks. We both found the atmosphere very relaxing and I also had a nice chat to some regulars who became interested to join the local Urban Sketchers.

    1. Thanks Ann - it was fun mixing and matching the flowers from the flower shop's display - I took some liberties with colours to make it more rainbow-y (if I can make up a word...)

  2. Nice sketch of the flowers and the cup. I'm always impressed when someone does a painting directly in watercolors. They always seem to have a nice freshness that way. I can just picture your son munching on his cookie while you painted.

    1. Thanks Joan, I think maybe I've had an unconscious backlash from inktober (tried to do a drawing every day, but ran out of puff on the weekend) because I find myself yearning to do these loose watercolours. Now I just have to learn how to deliverately do that really interesting effect with "accidental" colour run-ins (as happened a bit here with the blue cup and brown table shadows).

  3. This is so lovely. I love when watercolorists can just paint things without ink and they come to life like this did. Hope your little guy is feeling better by now.

    1. Thanks Lynn, he is feeling better and back at school today. He loved his day with me though! Re painting without ink... it's kind of challenging, but so much faster - you should try it!

    1. Thanks Margaret, it felt like such a luxury to be using all the colours in my paintbox, and so purely without much mixing. Yummy!
