I sketched this back when I first started joining in with Lynn's previous blog (Somewhere to Sketch) and I'm not sure if I've posted it here before -- sorry if I have! This is a little netsuke that I bought at the LA County Museum of Art, from the shop in its Japanese building. I treasure it for its own beauty, as well as being a memento of the time when I lived near the museum and visited it often. The brown marks on the page are from my playing with a stamp on the same page. [More about netsuke here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsuke]

What great drawings of the netsuke. In fact I'm glad you added the link, as I had never heard of them before, but so glad I know now.
ReplyDeleteElaine, thanks for the link so we could learn abut the netsuke. Lovely sketch!
ReplyDeleteThese are indeed lovely! I can't recall seeing them before.
