Treasures and Mementos - Clare Willcocks

This is my first post for Paper, Paint, Pencils and Pens so I hope I'm doing it right!

This is a biro sketch of my Mum's sewing box. It has accumulated lots of bits and pieces over time, buttons, trinkets, scraps of material, cotton and zips. Below there's another layer with even more bits and bobs! Mum has had it for as long as I can remember and I think it's a work of art in itself, constantly evolving :)

See you again soon!

  5. I am blown away by the intricate detail you've achieved here. I also have a warm spot for mothers and grand mothers sewing baskets. As I fondly recall sitting in my grandma's sewing room and playing with her tin of buttons. Welcome!! Please explain Brio art. Thanks.

  6. This is remarkable, Clare! Do you start in a certain spot and go from there, or do you do a light sketch of the overall picture first? This reminds me of my mom's sewing things too. They are a special assortment of treasures, that's for sure.

  9. Hi Lynn .......I see you asked Clare about biro art. Biro is just a normal run of the mill pen, the sort you pick up anywhere....it's what you do with them that is the art and Clare obviously loves drawing with hers. Looking forward to seeing more of these Clare.

  10. Fantastic. The sewing box and button box were my favorite childhood playthings as well. I guess it's the age . . . we didn't have computers or lots of fancy toys. Thanks for the memories.

  11. Hi all, thank you for your lovely comments! Yep, as Ann explained, biro is just a normal ballpoint pen. To answer your question Margaret, I usually start with a light drawing and then build it up gradually. I draw it all out very lightly first, then go over and adjust bits as I go along. Looking forward to joining in with the next theme :D
