Daily Life, Surfacing, Jez Eden

Today I made a decision - to grit my teeth and come to the surface.  I have done nothing but sleep deeply for the last few days,  being woken for food and tablets and then zonking back to nothingness.

I hate taking meds at any time, but since the pain-killers are working just enough to make the pain about bearable, I don't want to be knocked out with the other pills.  So I decided to cut those by half and have managed with only one long sleep today.  I'll cope with the pain as long and as well as I can for now.

This and the sketch below were done last Sunday 18th, a week ago before the 'dreaded lurgy' hit me, but I never got around to posting it.  I made one of our favourite loaf cakes that morning, though I change or add something every time I make it and added some apricot pieces this time.

The sketch of the completed cake was not a success, but fortunately it tasted just as gorgeous as always.

Health-wise, I had an X-ray on Friday afternoon.  Problem in this country is that this is Bank Holiday weekend and nothing will start to happen until Tuesday.  Then results have to go to Specialist and my doctor, which - in spite of modern technology - generally takes anything up to a week or 10 days.

All energy used up, so I'll say au revoir and flop back to bed for a bit.

  1. Jez I am so glad you explained. I will keep you in prayer. I really worry about you. That explains everything. I too am at ease knowing this. Jez

We had our long weekend few weeks back. Yes they do get delayed but our Specialist's secretary fax's reports to our family doctor. Every office is different. Like your art. sketches. so real looking.

    1. No, this was the last drawing I did a week ago before the pain hit me. I'm determined to try a sketch today, now I have cut down the diazepam by half, pain a bit less so I think I can do it.

      Thank you for your thoughts

  5. Jez, I can understand why you want to cut back on the pain medication. We have the same problem on weekends when there are holidays...things get delayed which is not good if you don't feel well. I hope your pain gets better soon. Love the two sketches, especially the one of the ingredients. The cake sounds delicious. Take care of yourself.

    1. So nice of you Joan, and I was pleased with the first painting even if the second one was a bit of a disaster.

  7. Dear Jez, my heart continues to ache for you. Thinking of you suffering this way is so sad. I want there to be a solution and a quick recovery for you and your back problem! One can hope. The fact that you were able to do the top drawing currently is incredible. And a delightful little drawing it is. The second one just makes me want to bite into it! Hugs from me. May this all be a thing of the past sooner than later!

  8. I did those drawings a week ago before the back pain hit me. Just never got round to posting it. Couldn't attempt to make a cake now.
Tried a little sketch this morning and will see if I can finish it. First signs that the pills are working enough to mask pain so that's good. Thank you for your good thoughts.
