Daily Life, Relaxing by Joan Tavolott

This young man that I found today was doing my favorite thing...just relaxing and watching the water down by the bay in Sayville. The bench he is seated on faces the Great South Bay and a small beach area. There is always someone there just watching and relaxing.

  1. This is so nice, Joan. I love his relaxed posture, and I love the way you've done all the greenery around him!

  2. Nice relaxing sketch, Joan. I say too like Margaret, that the greenery around is amazing, you have used so many colors in doing it, very nice and beautiful-

    1. I'm just glad that I always have my sketching materials with me when I go down to the beach, even if it is for a short time. Thank you.

  3. I always love the feeling of the atmosphere of a person and/or place you achieve in your paintings. There is always one little detail that speaks to me of the reality of that feeling, and here it is the way the young man's flip-flop shoe is dropping just slightly away as they do. I hope you realise how much I spend time examining and enjoying your sketches.

    1. Jez, thank you so much for using some of your strength to comment and notice that detail. I love that about flip-flops, don't you?

    2. Jez, I absolutely notice how much you notice in everyone's drawings. And often you make me more aware of things I missed or was not that conscious of, thanks for being my extra set of eyes!

  7. What a great sketch. No words are needed. And I like this "easy" scribbling...It looks so easy and fluffy - and is so hard to paint...
