Daily Life, "New Pens", Lynn Cohen

I know we've already had a theme of art supplies, but this is MY DAILY LIFE, as I do draw almost every single day. The big blue square is a cloth pencil holder I made from old jeans and quilted the top. It's on top of my set of watercolor paints of which you can see one row along with my water brush. To the right is a plastic box that holds my pens. Yesterday I found myself at Michael's again and could not resist buying some Faber-Castell PITT artist pens in different pen nibs and colors. I used them to color the pens and pencil holder. I used watercolor and some colored pencils to finish this up.

  1. Well art is what we are all about, so it is a large element of our daily lives. That's quite a complicated sketch and it must have taken some time and concentration. Lovely colourful sketch.

    1. Thanks Jez, but really I did this quite quickly. I was not in the zone at all. I wanted to be but I was trying to finish it up to have something to post here today. Not a good way to draw. But glad it didn't come out half bad for how I took to the task. I feel a little bit guilty for that.

  4. Wonderful sketch Linda. What a smart idea to sew with jeans. To hold your pencils. Art is my daily thing as well. I love it as a new beginner.

To-day is not over but I have done Spring cleaning non stop. We had a terrible experience last night. The mosquitoes were swarming us non stop babies. Hubby discovered they were breeding in the plants of Mums. So late last night outside they went. My neighbor said they can breed in your plant soil for sure. I loved my Mums so hope I can plant in garden.

    1. Thanks Carol. I used to sew a lot of things from old jeans ... vests, skirts, hats, purses ... in the 1960-70's. And later too actually.
These pencil/pen holders are easy to make.
Hope your mosquito problem is a thing of the past.

    1. That's great Margaret. My being in a hurry to finish it must have transferred some energy to the drawing. Now I'm not so sorry I was in a hurry! ;-)

  7. Great sketch of your supplies. I don't think most of us can resist buying something new when we go into an art supply store. It is a special kind of "need." lol

  8. You have a nice place to have your pens in, Lynn! Good idea to sew a penholder, I would like to do the same. The pens and pencils in the order, then it is easy to find them.
