Daily Life, Floating Guitar, Jez Eden

Friday, and today it's Dev's turn for a clinic appointment.  It's a longish one and one that I can't be with him as I usually am.  It's a hot sunny day and I decide to find somewhere pleasant outside to park rather than sit in a cramped, sunless waiting room.  He'll phone me when he's ready.

I drove about half a mile from the hospital and parked in the large empty car-park of a country pub in Plough Lane, in the shade of a high hedge.  Window down, birds singing and butterflies flitting around the hedgerow plants, very quiet and peaceful.

I didn't feel like tackling the scenery, so I sketched my bunch of keys.

Finished the keys.  So I turned the car and parked by the hedge again in the direction of the lane.  What met my eye across the road was a large guitar apparently balanced precariously on a car.  It took me a moment to do a double take and see the post holding the wooden guitar shape, presumably advertising lessons.  How could you not sketch that when it's in front of you.

  1. Love your colorful house key! The keys made an intesting sketch and so did the unusual floating guitar. I'm glad you didn't have to wait in the clinic.

  3. Love the idea of a colorful house key! I'm always trying to figure out which one it is. I would also just HAVE to sketch that floating guitar. You made a pleasant afternoon of what could have been a long sit in the waiting room. Good idea! :) I like how you pointed out where something went "very badly wrong" with the drawing, lol!

    1. I bought one of the coloured keys initially for Dev who could never find the right key - main entry door, our front door, daughter's front door, mailbox key, and then another key for the car-locking arm that goes on the driving wheel which must be underneath the car key in the sketch. Then I got one too, very useful, better than painting one yourself.

  8. Great sketch of the car keys, but I love the one with the guitar. How funny with the positioning that it looks like it is on the car. Glad you used your time well.
