Animals, the Duck by Joan Tavolott

I did this watercolor sketch of the duck from a photo I had taken at a local park. I hadn't seen a duck like this before...the area around his eye was so interesting. I used my water-soluble pencil and my Inktense Pencils for this.

  5. When I was growing up, we had some of these ducks on the farm. I always thought they were hideous. They were cranky, almost as bad as the geese. You did a great job sketching him.

  6. I like the loose effect of your painting. It's funny how some detail, like the area around the eye, can make one want to draw the whole bird or animal. Such a good effect from the Inktense pencils.
