TIME AWAY FROM HOME, JEZ EDEN

HOLIDAYS WE NEVER GOT AROUND TO ……

"The Lighthouse Holiday"
PAINTED ON I-PAD WITH THE
'BRUSHES' APP - JEZ
We don't go away on holidays now, health problems make it too chancy to book and to go away.  So I thought I would share one or two imaginary holiday memories with you in this fortnight.  This is the holiday we once hoped to take in a former lighthouse - in the days when we would have enjoyed climbing seven flights of stairs for the view.  I'm sure we would have found a lighthouse on a cliff somewhere.

Seeing other members posting I-Pad paintings reminded me that I haven't done any digital drawing or painting for quite a while, so I enjoyed painting this.  The original "Brushes" painting App is simple and has very limited functions, but I like it because it thinks the way I do and I can paint without worrying about technical details.  I downloaded the newer version, Brushes 3, but can't seem to get on with that.  I'd be interested to know what other people use.

  1. A beautiful dream picture. I have an ipad but have not tried drawing on it. I use my lap top and a Corel pad and painting program.

    1. I have a Bamboo stylus and pad, but the I-pad is so convenient for sitting on the sofa and drawing/painting. I can add a little at each coffee break (and we have plenty!) and put it down in my box beside me until the next break. Worth a try.

  2. Inspiring. I am going to have to try my daughter's Ipad painting program one of these days.

    1. Thank you Penny. I find it very relaxing, and good to change to a different medium from time to time.

  3. This is so charming. I'm glad you are using your imagination, Jez! The digital is terrific as well. A new art form for us to enjoy. I have Paint 53. I have some others too, but have not played around with them much. I should try. I love the narrow blue line of the light house and the splatter look of the path. and the cliff too. So well executed!

  4. Jez, I have always dreamed to visit a lighthouse too! And have not done it, allthough I have some lighthouses here around. But I do dream only of them. Your digital painting is adorable, dreamlike.

  5. Oh I do love this lighthouse Jez....it looks a lovely place that I think anyone would love to stay in. I really admire digital art, I'm hopeless at it...Perhaps I should try it again!

  6. Great sketch of this lighthouse, Jez! I always thought it would be interesting to stay overnight in a lighthouse. I've visited many lighthouses, but haven't slept in one...yet!

  7. Hi Jez. Try Paper 53, it's free on ITunes and very easy to use. Love your lighthouse. I have always wanted to live in a barn or a lighthouse. tee hee. Great job.

  8. I appreciate all these lovely comments, I thought perhaps it would look too simple, but if yo've tried digital art you will know it has just as many demands as paper and brush. So pleased I was inspired to get back to digital.
