Time Away From Home, "China in Ink", Lynn Cohen

I have been very fortunate in my life to be able to travel, starting in my late teens, to many wonderful places in the world. In 1983 I joined a small group of Holistic Health Professionals to travel to China to observe Chinese Medical practices. I have some fun stories from that trip. We did a fair share of sight seeing too during the three weeks there in both rural areas and big cities. This we saw toward the end of the trip in Beijing. This is an amazing palace with lots of gold treasures inside. Drawn from a photo I took.

Today is the first day of our forth theme: Time Away From Home, Vacations & Holidays (real or imagined) suggested by Ann Hyde. I look forward to every one's contributions to this next two weeks of drawings from outside your home front.
Remember it doesn't have to be a place you actually visited. It could be somewhere you'd like to go if you could. Let your imaginations fly!

April 1 also happens to be my husbands and my 29th Wedding Anniversary! We hope to travel abroad this year together. That will be a first! We've traveled extensively across the US together. We've both been to Europe before, but not together!
It's time.

I used Faber-Castell PITT artists pen Black SX and Prismacolor Black Bold pen

    1. Thanks Ann. I sat in front of the TV last night drawing this while watching singers sing their hearts out on THE VOICE. I had lots of time for details. Thanks too for your congrats on our 29th year of marriage. We are happy.

    1. Well I went to China before we married, were just living together. He couldn't afford the trip. I could. Always been a saver. ;-) So I went with a small group of strangers and it was fun. We got along great. The food was fabulous. Thanks for your congrats.

  5. I think your sketch is wonderful, so detailed with all the tiles and the decorative parts. I like the dark post at the left, it gives distance and perspective.
Happy 29th Anniversary to you both. I hope you have a very enjoyable day - and dinner.

  10. Congrats on your anniversary! Yay for longevity. We have 33 years and are still friends although we do bicker from time to time. tee hee. I always start it because we gotta have some action around these parts. lol. Love your drawing of this building. Lots of work involved in all those lines. Great job. Hopefully I can join the fun again soon but am having problems thinking of where we've gone because we don't go anywhere. lol. We are home bodies and we don't fly, therefore we stay at home other than local areas. I'll think of something or somewhere I'd like to go and then try to draw it. Again, Happy Anniversary and many more.

  11. Thank you Gloria.
Remember the world is your oyster. Google non-copyrighted photos of any place in the world, you'll have lots of choices to draw from, literally!
