In 2002 my husband and I drove cross-country for my Christmas vacation from teaching. My sister, Fran, was sick and we decided to go out to California. My husband didn't want to fly so we drove with a stop or two each way...but mostly we just drove. I said I couldn't drive all that way without seeing something scenic. When we passed the signs for the Saguaro National Forest in New Mexico on the way home we did stop. The giant saguaro cacti look like people standing with their arms raised. They looked so great silhouetted against the sky. It was a really interesting to visit the park and the nature center they had there, as well as see the wildlife in the park.

Wonderful sketch. Cacti have such interesting shapes. I'd love to see a forest of them!
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing of this tall stately cactus.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sirkka, Netty, Melisa, and Fran!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Our husbands have that rather drive than fly in common.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the imposing cacti so well, I've only seen one or two like this. If there is a forest of them it must be quite a scary place if one wandered through it in the dark!
