Human Beings and How They Spend Their Time, Cooking at the Market by Joan Tavolott

A few years ago my husband and I went to France for a vacation. One of the places we spent some time was Provence. We took a trip to Arles on day for their farmers market. They had everything imaginable including people cooking in huge pans. Everything smelled delicious so we did buy a few things (how could we not). I did this from one of the photos I took there.

    1. I'm not sure what she was cooking. It looked like something with shrimp. Thanks.

  2. I've seen this being done at 'continental' markets locally, and it's quite impressive. Nice sketch, just focussing on the figure. Now Provence is another of my 'never got there' trips. You must have loved it.

    1. I think it was some kind of shrimp. I had taken a photo of her and a guy who was making paella in a big pan. I bought some of the paella which was great. Thank you.

  5. Wow, A French Cooking Market! How fun and tasty. Your drawing of her and the food brings back memories for me of a woman cooking fresh fish just caught in a huge wok on a small boat on a river in China, where we floated and ate. I can almost smell the food here, Joan, it's so well done.
