Parks & Gardens, Winter, Sirkka Jalava

More winter pictures. I so wait, that the snow should be smelting and all flowers and greens bursting out.
To day there is no sun, only a steady winter light, no brights no shadows. It has been -9 C degrees in the night.  So I did a winter painting for you from the back yard:  there is a snowy way down to the beach at the now again frozen sea. Here the deers use to be, the squirrels and hares .

  1. This is a beautiful scene, Sirkka, so touchingly painted. You make it warm even in winter!

  3. Even though it's unbearably cold where you are, you've managed to capture all the beauty in your painting. Excellent work Sirkka.

  4. Another great winter scene. We have had 2 days of rain on top of all the snow that is slowly melting.

  5. Not only a forest in your garden, but also a beach just down the path, and I can see from what you say that the animals do come to visit you.! Although it is cold, you live in a very beautiful place, and your lovely painting expresses the beauty of even such a cold winter. It looks like the start of a lovely fairy story.

    1. Jez, thank you! We cannot awoid the coldness, we must live with it. And mostly it is beautiful and and nice in winter allthough it can be - 20, -30 C cold for weeks. This winter was not cold and not much snow. And now it seems that the snow is melting away. So finally spring, perhaps. Jez, espacially in spring and summer, I enjoy living here, the autumns too are very beautiful.

  6. Oh to live by water! Your area is so filled with beauty as you show us in your beautiful paintings of it. I'm excited to see what it looks like when this all thaws out and melts away too. I understand better what people mean when they say they like seasons. Where I live we don't have dramatic changes in seasons like you do there or they have here in the mid west and east coasts. So this is fun to experience through yours and others art. I like that bit of red in the background.

    1. Lynn, one of the best things here is the water. I see the water all the time, it is very enjoyable and soothing, calming.(But ice in the winter!) Yes Lynn, we have four seasons, it is much variations during a year. The spring is soon here, perhaps now, when the nature wakes up and everything explores to grow, the light will be more and more of, in the summer there is nearly no nights a s o. I love the autumn too, when the darkness comes, the days become shorter and nights longer and in the winter there is only ca six hours daylight. The autumns here are often long and warm. But now we are waiting for the spring, actually from yesterday the days begin to be longer than nights and every day is now longer than yesterday untill to the end of the june, when days begin to become shorter again. It is much variation. I try to express it in my sketches!

  9. you're very good at painting white sirrka. I'm sure you leave it white like that but it's still a challenge especially for me. I hope you have some warmth soon. This painting and this place is beautiful!

    1. Elisa, thank you. You are right, with watercolors i leave it white where it is light, it IS a challenge, but it is avaible to learn. Thanks, kind of you, just today it looks like to become warmer. It has been raining too! Kind you!
