Hubby in the Kitchen by Joan Tavolott

I was sitting in the living room last night with the tv on while my husband was doing the dinner dishes. He likes hand washing everything and I don't think our dishwasher has been used in a few years. lol Our usual routine is that I cook and he does the dishes. He says he likes to think while he washes....so it usually takes him 10 times as long as it would take me to wash them. lol But I'm not going to complain. So I grabbed my sketchbook and did this directly in ink. He didn't even know I had sketched him.

  2. Oh this is fun. We both drew our husbands in the kitchen. Yours has more hair than mine. LOL You did a great job on the kitchen and the guy!

  3. Joan, I dont like to use the dishwasher either, I usually hand wash the dish. I use the dishwashmashine only, when there is much dish after more people. You have sketched him so well when he is contemplating. (he is right with that too, i think)

  4. Is that a flannel shirt? Because I love a man in a flannel shirt. :) And a man that does the dishes for his wife has got to be lovable!

  5. We cook and my son in law does dishes...we offer to help but he also likes to take his sweet time. His mom refuses to have a dishwasher and she has 10 kids. Every family dinner/event there are 30 people and a boat load of dishes to do! My daughter and I don't make a mess when we cook either...so it's any easy clean up that often takes soooo long..lol We often jump in and help anyway. Funny thing is in the morning he is soooo fast in the kitchen! Thanks for posting this it gave me a little insight into where my son in laws mind set might be! Great painting too!

    1. I'm glad my husband isn't the only one. It would be so much faster if I wash them...but no way! LOL

  6. My goodness, a flannel shirt, does dishes....You've got a wonderful husband! I wish my hubby would do the dishes once in a while, but he works so I cook, I wash dishes, wash clothes, and even bake cookies.:( :DD I love my life and your sketch is wonderful. Great job!

    1. Thanks so much. He and I are both retired so we sort of split up what needs to be done. It works with some things. lol

  7. Marvelous sketch Joan! You guys have divided work in a very sweet way! Like your husband I also wash the dishes and take the time to think! There's a meditative process when you do a chore lol. In my home mom does everything from the cooking to washing and therefore I jump in to help. Your husband is surely taking his time ;)

    1. Thanks. My mother felt that way about ironing. She said it relaxed her...and she ironed just about everything. lol I guess with 5 kids she needed a way to relax. lol

  8. I'm with your hubby! I prefer handwashing and my dishwasher has never been used! (It came with the house; not my choice.) Very nice sketch!
