This lavendar plant grows profusely in our back yard. It's deep purple buds are velvet-like to the touch.
It's not in bloom at the moment, so I drew it from a photo I took of it last summer.
A quick sketch this morning before rushing off to work and anticipation of meeting oldest grand daughter and her beau for lunch at Tacos Jalisco, as they travel through town from Oregon!
I'll paint the flower later to bring it to life!
Have a creative day!

Have fun at lunch at TJ's. It looks great already. We too have a lot of lavender plants. Their scent is delish.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria, it's almost time. Excited! So sweet the 20 year old grand daughter wants to stop to spend time with her grand parents on her spring break! I count myself lucky. Glad you have lavender too. Yes, they do smell wonderful.
DeleteMmmm lavender is my favorite scent. The drawing is nice, I am sure the colored version will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. I hope to find time tomorrow to paint her.
DeleteHave a fun lunch!!! How great that you have lavender in your garden...that must smell so great when it is in bloom. Nice sketch of it!
ReplyDeleteLunch was food delicious and company love filled!
DeleteSo cool to have grandchildren old enough to drive from a state away to visit you, and the desire to choose to do so!
The lavender, a different variety, blooms and smells heavenly in our front yard now!
My mother and I visited California once, when my brother's first child was born. Mom was so in love with the lavendar that grew everywhere. When we walked to town, should would trail her hand through everyone's flower beds to stir up the scent. I'm not a fan of the smell myself, but Mom adores it. It was certainly pretty! I never see it growing here so maybe it is too wet for it.
ReplyDeleteThis particular lavender feels like velvet. You mom must adore the texture as I do!
DeleteGreat sketch :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann!
