GARDENS & PARKS, JEZ EDEN

Another sketchbook page from a while ago.  I was looking through one of my sketchbooks for something else and saw this sketch which I remember being very proud of at the time.

"Aster"
Pitt Artist's Pen - Jez
Drawing and painting flowers is something I love.  This Aster flower intrigued me because of its complexity, and was very demanding to draw, with lots of concentration needed - even more than drawing a head of hydrangea flowers.

You can see why I say I am challenging myself to loosen up in my style as well as doing this more botanical approach.  But I'm still very proud of it.   It's one of those things you look at and think "Did I really do that".

  1. Beautiful! LOL. I do that all the time. Isn't it great that we are easily amused and impressed with our artistic creations?

  2. Awesome Aster Jez! I love it when we wonder about ourselves that way! Funny, I do that with just about everything I draw.I go into such a zone, I really don't often realize I'm the one who "did it"! Really!

    1. Thanks Gloria. Yes, I know I should have been brave enough to colour it, but I just love line drawings so much.

  5. This is a lovely drawing. All the petals would absolutely blow me away. I don't think I could do it.

    1. Thanks, Fran, I can only do this kind of drawing by starting with one petal, and then one more, and then one more, just focusing on the one I'm drawing and forgetting the other hundred or so to be done!

  8. Thank you Elisa. Comments like yours do give me encouragement and are helpful to the morale, especially on difficult days like the present couple of weeks with so many clinic appointments.
