Close to Home, cup with split handle by Margaret Coote

Now Joan has inspired me with her beautiful painting of her favorite cup!

This is one of my favorite cups. When it jumped out of my cupboard and broke itself, I glued the handle back together. But I couldn't find one of the little pieces, so you can see there's a chunk missing!

  1. Oh, this is so poignant, Margaret! The light color, the single subject, the story, all touches my sensitive heart. And I am not saying this with tongue in cheek! I really mean it!

  3. Lovely cup, Margaret! I like your watery painting of it. I love that you kept is even with the piece missing. Mine has a long crack that you can see on the inside of the cup...more and more as the coffee and tea stain it. lol I got a new mug when I was in Ireland so that one is my morning coffee cup and this one is my afternoon tea cup.

    1. Thank you, Joan! Would love to see the inside of the cup with the crack, and the one from Ireland! I have different mugs for different times of day too, and different days :)

  4. What a pity your mug broke itself....at least you saved it. Really like your painting and your wet-into-wet method.

  6. It's still beautiful and now it has a story. My son had a bowl jump out of the cabinet this weekend (or so he says) and shatter on the tile floor. Sometimes, they just get gutsy and take a leap!

    1. I completely agree with this. Who knows the secret inner lives of our dishes? :)
