Close to Home, Pansies, Cris Marlow

In my second page of my journal I am doing,  I decided to put in pansies since its such a ritual every Fall/Winter to plant some in our front porch planter, as they remind me of my childhood and my Mom. I always go for the purple and yellow, the colors of the Johnny Jump ups my Mom loved, but since we have walnut trees around us and squirrels that like to dig up my planter to bury them and the peanuts I put out,  my Hubby made me this cage so they cant get in to dig things up.  I can eventually take it off to enjoy the flowers when they have settled in. When summer comes they die off and I plant Impatiens in here.  So this fits 'close to home'. I wasn't going to share this as I am not happy with the Pansies since the paint was cheap and chalky and grabbed the paper but figured what the heck. :) I have some good paints on order and I am hoping they get here soon.

  1. Love the pansies!!! They always remind me of my grandmother who always planted them in our yard. Funny how the squirrels dig up certain things and not others. Nice close to home sketch.

    1. Thanks Joan. Something magical about Pansies. They do take us back to our childhood for some reason, maybe because they like cold weather and are so easy to grow. I find the squirrels dig up any soft dirt around here so nothing is safe. and in the back its the squirrels along with the Chickens.. LOL

  2. So glad you decided to post this page, as we cannot see chalky paint, only pretty pansies. Again these were a favorite of my late MIL! Thanks for the memory, Cris!
