Close to home The car outside by Sirkka Jalava

It was snowing lightly this morning when I sat at my morning tea. I was thinking on what to draw to day. I saw the snow falling down on the car outside the kitchen window  The snow was smelting when it reached the car.  Then I decided to try draw the car. And here it is what i became to, an aquarelle.

  1. I have this image that it snows year round in Finland. Please tell me this isn't so! I like this narrow view of your car. How well you got the light shining on the metal!

    1. No, Lynn, it is not true!! It snows only half a year! That is not true either. It usually (possibly) oct - nov to march -april. This winter we have had snow only a little, practically in jan-february. It can come more still. We never know. (In USA you have had much snow this winter?!) We CAN also have very warm summers from may to september. And that are we allways longing for. Thank you for the comment. It is actually the car of my son.

  6. You did a great job on this. The different values really give it the right shine.

  8. Beautiful job on all the reflections in the car and the windows!!! This came out really well in the monochromatic tones. I also like that you didn't do the entire car, just a crop of it. I see you also keep the windshield wipers up so they don't freeze onto the windows. We do the same thing, but I'm lucky enough to have a guitar to keep my car in.

    1. Thank you, Joan! Yes, you see, I only used one color on the car. The ground under the car has a little ather colors. I had a limited paper to paint on. Yes, you have made right observations, in the winter we must have windshields up to prevent that they freeze. Now I am confused, how do you keep your car in a guitar ?! (Now Lynn is laughing I guess!??)

    2. Dear Sirkka, I hope by now you have figured out that she meant to say her car is in the garage, not the guitar! Yes, I am still laughing! Hugs to you both. Lynn

    3. Lynn, don´t worry, I figured it out but I wanted to joke a little with the guitar, because I thought you are laughing about my confusion about the problem and I guess, Joan is laughing too for her the little laps! So I hope we all have got a little fun with it. It was not meant to hurt anybody. Greetings to you and Joan!

    5. LOL That's what happens when you are thinking about guitars and garages...lol...I think my mind is going. I would need an unusually big guitar to fit my car. lol
