Close to Home, by Joan Tavolott

Today I went up the street and sketched the elementary school. It was frigid out today so I sketched from my car. Nobody was around...who else would be out in such cold weather? There is still some snow piled up by the school from our last storms, and apparently on Sunday we are expecting more.
Luckily I am heading out of town and will miss it. I pre sketched some items for the next theme so I can post while I am away.

Here is Merrimack Elementary School done across two pages in my moleskin.

  1. Love this scene, Joan. I hope you don't mind that I enlarged your photo and added the click to see details below it. My eyes needed larger!
;-) You did such a great job on capturing all the details of this little school. Glad to hear you have drawn ahead and will be posting. I just did one too for tomorrow! ;-) Have a good time this weekend!

  3. I love how you did this across two pages…and the way you painted it, the eye travels across the pages. Nice!
